From the first moment I set foot I to my house I knew every floor covering needed to go. My house was built in 1857 and I had big hopes that underneath the stained carpet would be shiny hardwood floors. The second I got the keys I ran to the house and started to cut small holes in the flooring to see what laid beneath. To my delight I saw quite a few rooms with hardwood.

Yesterday began the process of digging to the bottom of it all. At 10am my awesome mother and a trusty carpet knife started hacking away at the stained carpet. We got some good stuff under the bad stuff! I’m pretty excited about it. Now the search for a professional to re-finish it is on. I will post later about that process and post before and after pictures.

For now, I must get out of bed and start ripping out all the staples that were left behind. Just so you get an idea of the progress, I leave you with a before and after of my front porch. Welcome to flooring mountain!
